The night, often overlooked in our daily routines, offers a unique space for reflection and world-building, allowing us to step outside daytime pressures like productivity and conformity. "Right to the Night" explores the nocturnal as a realm of possibility. Join us for an evening where music, visuals, DJ lectures, and performances come together to challenge boundaries, foster connection, and celebrate the liberating energy of the night. Dress as you feel, and let the night guide you.
artists:
Backstreet Goy: with the wildest selection of songs, let's put the playlist into shuffling mode and get ready for an hour of curated mess.
Eurico: his art delves deep into the contemporary human condition, exploring the semantics of language and coded systems in a personal and self-reflective manner. Themes of dispersion, liminality, and cultural taxonomies hold special significance in his work, giving his audience a thought-provoking experience.
Camy Huot: French performance artist and DJ based in Utrecht. She gravitates towards the obscure tones and artificial beats found in the realms of minimal wave and synth punk. She’s recognized for her role as a host on the Stranded FM radio show “Too Many Creeps” as well as "Batcage radio" and her contributions as an organizer of the Wavecrash events at ACU.
mesin slat: Dj, producer, wide web digger, mesin slat is a curious cross discipliner who plays with musics and sounds like shadow play - giving sonic outline but neva borders!!! A message-oriented musical diarist, he believes music can bring a positive change towards the most stubborn of hearts and the firmest of constructions.
Entrance price (sliding scale):

Context
This party marks the end of the exhibition Right to the Night and the programme series Nocturnal Dialogues which took place at the University of Amsterdam (VOX-POP) throughout 2024. These programmes explored how we and our surroundings change at night, and what are the possibilities that the night offers for imagining new realities and reinventing ourselves outside daytime pressures.
